Inspection of Craftsmanship Details
Stitching and Patterns: Check that quilting stitches are uniform and smooth, free from broken or skipped stitches. Ensure embroidery patterns are precisely aligned-with deviations from the design kept within reasonable limits-and that the reverse side is free from excessive loose threads, missed stitches, or embroidery errors.
Overall Smoothness: After multi-layer lamination, the fabric should lie flat without puckering or wrinkling. The filling must be evenly distributed, free from clumps, uneven thickness, or localized voids and separation.
Material Quality Assessment
Base Fabric and Filling: Verify the base fabric composition (e.g., 100% cotton, polyester, acetate) and weight (gsm). Use touch and burn tests to confirm the filling material matches the specifications (e.g., synthetic fiber batting, wool batting) and to detect any adulteration or use of inferior materials.
Basic Physical Properties: Test colorfastness by repeatedly rubbing the fabric with a white cloth to ensure no significant color transfer occurs. Additionally, check the warp and weft density and yarn specifications to evaluate the fabric's durability.
Functional Property Testing
Core Performance Testing: Assess key metrics such as colorfastness (to washing and rubbing), shrinkage rate, pilling resistance, compression resilience, thermal insulation, and down-proof properties to ensure suitability for the intended application.
Safety and Compliance Verification: Confirm that levels of harmful substances-such as formaldehyde, pH value, and decomposable carcinogenic aromatic amines-meet regulatory standards. For high-end products, request environmental certification reports, such as OEKO-TEX.
