Quilted and embroidered fabrics utilize a wide variety of filling materials. These can be selected based on specific functional requirements-such as warmth, support, or breathability-with common types including:
Standard Synthetic Fiber Fillings
Spray-bonded cotton (Resin-bonded wadding): Features good tensile strength and resilience; resistant to deformation during washing. It is the most widely used filling material, suitable for various home textiles and cold-weather apparel.
Glue-free cotton:Soft in texture, high in strength, and washable. Often used in high-end quilts; offers exceptional loftiness.
Silk-like cotton (Imitation silk wadding): Heat-treated on both sides for an ultra-soft feel and excellent thermal insulation. Commonly used in high-end fashion and premium home textile sets.
Down-alternative cotton (Microfiber fill):Made from ultrafine fibers; light as a feather, ultra-smooth, and offers excellent thermal insulation. Frequently used in down jackets, high-end pillows, and seat cushions.
Pearl cotton (Fiber balls): An upgraded alternative to standard PP cotton; granular in form with superior elasticity and uniformity. Easy to fill and commonly used in pillows, toys, and throw cushions.
PP cotton (Polyester staple fiber): Made of polyester; offers good elasticity and high loft. Resistant to compression and easy to clean; widely used in sofas, stuffed toys, and seat cushions.
Soft cotton: Soft to the touch and affordable; the preferred filling material for most standard cold-weather garments.
Loft cotton (Soft/fluffy wadding): Soft and smooth to the touch; frequently used in quilted fabrics for women's clothing.
Calendered cotton (Heat-pressed wadding): Features a smooth, washable surface; balances warmth with resilience and offers great value for money.
Needle-punched cotton:Formed via a needle-punching process; crisp, washable, and deformation-resistant. Offers high strength in both longitudinal and transverse directions; suitable for garment interlining, luggage, and more.
Rigid cotton (Hard wadding): Eco-friendly, breathable, and resilient; moisture- and moth-resistant. A high-quality alternative to foam, often used in mattresses, car seat cushions, and sound-absorbing materials.
Foam (Sponge): Offers good elasticity and cushioning; often used as an internal lining or filling for quilted products requiring firm support.
